Howard
Perch attended UNC-Wilmington on a baseball scholarship and followed up his
college playing career with a career in semi-professional baseball. As a player
with the Daytona Beach Dodgers, Perch won a batting title. Years later, Perch
joined the Single A ballclub known as the Hickory Crawdads. At the time,
Hickory was not only a member of the South Atlantic League, but was the Single
An affiliate of the Chicago White Sox (1994-1997) and the Pittsburgh Pirates
(1998-2002). Howard Perch served as the team’s first-base coach and batting practice
pitcher from 1994 to 2002.
