Howard Perch: How to Choose the Right Post-Acute Care Provider

Seasoned hospital administrator Howard Perch understands the important role post-acute healthcare plays in patient care process, particularly once a major surgery or protracted illness has begun to abate.

And as Howard Perch knows, choosing the right post-acute provider is key to achieving a successful recovery—and to take the necessary steps needed to return to good physical health.

How to Choose the Right Post-Acute Care Provider

Determining the right post-acute provider and facility for your loved ones can be a challenge.
But to ensure the right level of care, it’s important to consider:

·   Facility cleanliness. A healthcare staff that doesn’t prioritize cleanliness may not be the best post-acute care option.

·  Efficient turnarounds. While each patient’s care plan is unique, it’s important to know your provider works hard to pursue positive results in a manageable amount of time.

·    Asking questions. Don’t hesitate to pose questions throughout your walkthrough and get all the info you need to make the most informed decision possible.

Howard Perch Offers Advice for Working Out in the Cold

Experienced healthcare industry professional Howard Perch knows how crucial it is to maintain a solid workout routine, particularly when it comes to staying active and managing good physical and mental health.

But he also understands how difficult it can be to work out and stay fit while living in an extreme climate—as well as the challenges an active person faces at an unforgiving latitude.

Howard Perch: Advice for Working Out in the Cold

If winter has put a damper on your fitness routine, Howard Perch recommends making the adjustments needed not only to keep it going, but also to ensure you’re doing so safely.

Best practices for working out in the cold include:

Dress to stay dry. When you exercise, you sweat, which can drain your body of what it needs to stay warm in cold weather. To avoid freezing during that morning jog, avoid clothes made of cotton and go with synthetics that keep you dry.

Keep your extremities warm. Be sure to wear hats, gloves and/or mittens during your outdoor workout. Keeping your fingers, toes and head warm is essential to safe cold weather exercise.
